About the course
The Two day beginners course offers the chance to develop a working understanding of screen print in a short space of time, giving participants the chance to consolidate their knowledge more fully than on a one day workshop. There is also the opportunity to create more work, typically two different designs in three colours. Photographic stencils are used rather than hand cut paper stencils, allowing for either drawings or photos to be printed. Participants will need to prepare some artwork in advance of the course.
The Two Day Beginners Course offers the chance to develop a working understanding of screen print over the course of two Saturdays. The first day runs exactly as a One day Introductory Workshop. By the end of this day students have a clear understanding of the process, and can approach the second day with a clear understanding of how the process works.
Students will have a week between the two sessions in order to prepare a new piece of artwork, this time in a much more informed way. For the second day students will work on a three colour print. The second day allows means students are able to consolidate their knowledge from day one. The second session ends an hour later to allow time for the extra printing.
You will learn how to: coat the screen with the liquid stencil; produce artwork for putting onto the screen; transfer artwork onto the screen using the exposure and washout units; Correct mixing of ink and medium, instruction into building the image through layers within the screen print process.
